TRTC Countdown Timer (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a Shopify app provided by Tencent Real-Time Communication, Inc. The App helps Shopify merchants create countdown timers, announcement bars, promotional banners, campaign targeting rules, and campaign analytics for their Shopify storefronts.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information when merchants install and use the App.

1. Information We Collect

When a merchant installs or uses TRTC Countdown Timer, we may collect and process the following categories of information.

1.1 Merchant and Store Information

We may collect information related to the merchant’s Shopify store, including:
Shopify store domain
Storefront URL
Shopify shop identifier
App installation status
App authentication and session information
App configuration settings
Theme app embed status
Subscription and billing plan status
Usage limits and plan feature information
We use this information to install, authenticate, operate, and maintain the App.


1.2 Campaign Configuration Data

The App allows merchants to create and configure countdown campaigns and storefront banners. We may collect and store campaign configuration data, including:
Campaign name
Campaign title and subtitle
Countdown type and countdown settings
Campaign start time and end time
Banner display schedule
Page targeting settings
Product targeting settings
Device targeting settings
Geographic targeting settings
Audience targeting settings
Selected Shopify customer segments
Selected customer tags or company-related targeting rules
Button text and button links
Colors, layout, style, and design settings
Draft, active, published, paused, or deleted status
We use this information to display campaigns according to the merchant’s configuration.

Page-level performance statistics
Country-level impression and click statistics

We use this information to provide campaign analytics, enforce plan limits, improve the App, and help merchants understand campaign performance.


1.4 Protected Customer Data Used for Targeting

If a merchant enables audience targeting features, the App may process limited Shopify customer-related data only when necessary to determine whether a campaign should be displayed to a logged-in customer.
This may include:
Customer ID
Customer tags
Customer segment membership
B2B company association or company contact relationship
The App uses this data only to evaluate merchant-configured storefront campaign targeting rules.
The App does not request or require access to the following customer fields:
Customer name
Customer email address
Customer phone number
Customer physical address
We do not use protected customer data for off-platform advertising, resale, unrelated profiling, or marketing outside of the merchant’s storefront.


1.5 Technical, Log, and Monitoring Data

To operate and secure the App, we may collect technical and operational data, including:
IP address
Request time
API request logs
Browser or user agent information
Error messages
Response status
Service performance metrics
App availability and latency metrics
We use this information to maintain security, diagnose technical issues, monitor service performance, and improve reliability.


2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide countdown timer and announcement bar functionality
Allow merchants to create, edit, publish, pause, duplicate, and delete campaigns
Display storefront campaigns based on merchant configuration
Evaluate audience targeting rules
Show campaign performance analytics
Enforce plan limits and subscription features
Authenticate merchants and maintain secure sessions
Support Shopify Billing and subscription management
Help merchants activate and manage theme app embeds
Monitor App performance and reliability
Troubleshoot errors and technical issues
Respond to support requests
Comply with Shopify platform requirements and applicable laws
Protected customer data is used only at request time where applicable to determine whether a merchant-configured campaign should be displayed to a specific logged-in customer.


3. Shopify Customer Data

TRTC Countdown Timer may process limited Shopify customer data only when a merchant uses customer-based targeting features.
For example, a merchant may configure a campaign to display only to customers with specific tags, customers in specific Shopify customer segments, or customers associated with specific B2B company relationships.
In these cases, the App may evaluate customer-related data to decide whether to show or hide a campaign.
We do not permanently store raw protected customer data for this targeting evaluation. Customer-related data used for targeting is processed only as needed to provide the selected feature.


4. Data Sharing

We do not sell merchant or customer data.
We may share limited information only when necessary to operate the App, including with:
Shopify, for app installation, authentication, billing, and platform functionality
Hosting and infrastructure providers
Database and storage providers
Logging, monitoring, and security providers
Customer support or operational service providers, where applicable
Any service providers we use are expected to process information only as necessary to provide services to us and to protect the information appropriately.
We do not share protected customer data with third parties for advertising, resale, or unrelated marketing purposes.


5. Shopify Billing

If a merchant subscribes to a paid plan, billing is processed through Shopify Billing.
We may process subscription-related information, including:
Selected plan
Subscription status
Trial status
Billing approval status
Plan limits and usage information
Payment processing and billing charges are handled by Shopify according to Shopify’s billing terms and policies.


6. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as necessary to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or meet Shopify platform requirements.

When a merchant uninstalls the App or requests deletion, we delete or anonymize store-related App data where required by Shopify platform requirements and applicable laws.


7. Shopify Compliance Webhooks

The App supports Shopify compliance and lifecycle webhooks, including:
customers/data_request
customers/redact
shop/redact
app/uninstalled
When Shopify sends a valid compliance webhook, we process the request according to Shopify requirements.
For example:
When a shop redact request is received, we delete or anonymize store-related App data where required.
When an app uninstall webhook is received, we remove or deactivate data associated with the uninstalled store where required.
When a customer redact or data request webhook is received, we process the request according to the data we hold and Shopify’s requirements.


8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by the App.
These measures may include:
HTTPS for data transmission
Shopify OAuth and session-based authentication
Restricted access to production systems
Environment-based secret management
Access controls for application infrastructure
Monitoring and logging for operational reliability
Secure handling of Shopify compliance webhooks
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.


9. Customer Consent and Opt-Out

The App does not sell customer data.
The App does not use customer data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Where applicable, merchants are responsible for managing customer consent, privacy notices, cookie banners, opt-out choices, and other privacy preferences according to applicable laws and Shopify settings.


10. Merchant Responsibilities

Merchants are responsible for using the App in compliance with applicable privacy, data protection, consumer protection, and advertising laws.
Merchants should ensure that their own store privacy policy explains how they use apps and technologies that may process customer data for:
Storefront personalization
Campaign targeting
Promotional banners
Countdown timers
Analytics
Customer segmentation
Merchants are also responsible for ensuring that any campaign content, targeting rule, discount message, or promotional claim configured through the App complies with applicable laws and Shopify policies.


11. International Data Transfers

Information may be processed or stored in countries or regions where our infrastructure providers or service providers operate.
Where required by applicable law, we take reasonable measures to protect information transferred across borders.


12. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for use by Shopify merchants and is not directed to children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.


13. User Rights

Depending on applicable laws, merchants or customers may have rights to:
Request access to personal information
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of personal information
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request information about how personal information is processed
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
